Hello, and welcome to everyone reading this right now! I love to see that some of you are currently somewhere around the globe, and therefor this articles will be read all over the world. I appreciate that a lot!
Quick reclaimer before we start — No, this is not going to be a review of Austin Kleons book "Show Your Work". Even tho it is a good one. 😁
It's important to introduce yourself to new People
I realized the importance of introduction lately because I found myself in situations where I had to introduce myself (who I am, what I am doing, what I am aiming for, …) a lot in the last months. Mostly because I moved to another city, but also because I try to find my profession/niche, visited different meetups and met up with new people.
Many of you will most likely find yourselves overthinking everything when you are alone in your head. At least this applies to me. Every time, after telling someone who I am and what I do/want to do/search for, I realize that it is clearer for me to find the answers I search for. Maybe it's about saying it out loud and the fact that probably no one would lie to a stranger when it comes to talking about their dreams.
No matter what it is, it does help me. Honestly.
It does not feel that good, sitting on your own Work forever
To carry a camera basically everywhere you go, does mean, SSDs full of pictures. Mostly seen only by yourself. Even tho this is not a bad thing and not all pictures are meant to be presented to the whole world, it doesn't feel good not to finish what has been started. To finish could mean, to put together a small body of work and publish it on your website or on social media in the way you like it. It does not need to be a serious project you worked on for years to have the privilege of being shown. Even if it's just a beautiful light or composition you've captured, paired together it can make a wonderful series of images.
My SSD is full of unseen pictures, so I forced myself to put together a small body of work from my recent observations in Konstanz, Germany. Definitely nothing groundbreaking, but I have to admit that I really liked the city and the images I was able to capture during this short time period.
From now on, on my website, there is a place for a representation of series like this called "Archive".
As written about in If there's a Will, there's a Way, I can slowly see that things are starting to roll. Many great opportunities ahead for 2023, so it seems that I have some news and thoughts to write about for the future.
See you. (:
THANK YOU!
