023 — April: Things worth sharing
slow productivity, sources of inspiration and project progress
I’m a photographer who focuses on authentic advertising, lifestyle, and portraiture. This newsletter is my outlet to let go and share thoughts, photographs, experiences and behind the scenes. If you are curious and have not subscribed yet, you can do now. It means the world to me! :)
Hi all!
Today I share some valuable sources of inspiration which I’m sure are valuable for you as well. Also, If you have the feeling that today’s definition of productivity is a bit outdated, I have a book recommendation for you. In earlier issues of the newsletter I spoke about a project I’m working on since a few months now — today I show you some first insights.
1. RECENT SOURCES OF INSPIRATION
I discovered a very lovely designed and curated website for inspiration called ARXIPELAG. The way how all the projects are shown on their desktop website is just so pretty, and the interviews with the photographers are fascinating and inspiring as well. One of my favorite places on the internet.
Ben Clement is a photographer from Australia which work I follow for quite some time now. In the podcast, Blasé Sound he shared the journey into his creative profession and offers a lot of valuable inspiration for young and established photographers and filmmakers. If you are not familiar with his work, I highly recommend checking it out.
2. SLOW PRODUCTIVITY
How do you define productivity? In the recently published book Slow Productivity, Cal Newport did a lot of research on how productivity for knowledge workers is defined in today’s day and age versus the past. “Pseudo Productivity” is how he used to describe the current approach, which is a very good fit if you really think about it. We have to rethink how we approach work, otherwise burning out will become the norm (even more).
3. PROJECT UPDATE
I had a vision, I brought it to paper, pitched it, planned it, and now I’m in the phase of producing and editing.
In general, the theme is about running with a focus on a specific product wrapped into a story similar to ESCAPE THE MUNDANE, which I produced last year.
I’m super happy to get the support from an amazing brand called ALBAOPTICS!
And today I’m happy to show you the first insight. The production is basically split in two parts, where one’s focus is on urban/lifestyle and the other is on story/outdoor/nature. Part one is in the books, and I’m in the middle of editing, whereas the other will take place next week.
Here’s the preview :)
Thank you for reading and I wish you all the best!
Cheers,
Fabian

Appreciate the heads up on the pod. Good photography podcasts are difficult to get your hands on. Check out A Small Voice by Ben Smith on Spotify. Some of the greats pof photography on there.
